ANSWERS BEFORE YOU ASK
Frequently asked questions.
The details race directors and runners need, from timing equipment and fees to results and registration policies.
Services & scope
Are you an event planning company?
No. We are a timing company, and we specialize in doing that exceptionally well. Any event planning needs must be discussed and negotiated into the scope and price before booking. Race day keeps our timing team fully occupied; additional duties divert our attention and can jeopardize the quality of your timing. Your team handles event operations unless additional services were expressly agreed in advance.
What types of races do you time?
We time events from one-mile runs through marathons, including road, trail, charity, and cross-country races. Ultramarathons and specialty or all-day events need a custom quote based on their timing requirements.
What timing system do you use?
We use professional RFID chip timing equipment to record participants and produce race results.
Can you build our registration page?
RunSignup or Race Roster registration setup may be available as a paid service negotiated into the scope and price before booking. It is not included with timing. We do not automatically manage your registration page, email marketing, or event planning when you book us.
Can you help a first-time race director?
We can explain timing requirements, equipment, and the information needed to prepare an accurate quote. Your organization is responsible for event planning and logistics unless additional work has been negotiated into the scope and price before booking.
Results & runners
Do you provide live results?
Results are uploaded through platforms such as RunSignup and Race Roster as they become available. Publication timing depends on the event and connectivity. Preliminary results may change while the timing team reviews them.
Where do I find my result or report a timing issue?
Start with the Results page and select your race, date, and event. For a missing or incorrect result, send us the race name, race date, event distance, participant name, and bib number. Do not post personal registration information publicly.
Who handles refunds, transfers, weather decisions, or packet pickup details?
The event organizer sets these policies. Check the official race information and contact the race director through the event’s RunSignup page. Commonwealth handles race timing and is not automatically the event organizer.
Pricing & booking
What does a standard timing package include?
The first 300 registrants, one timing point, standard bibs, an inflatable arch, finish chute, timing clock, PA system, music, coordinated course-sign placement if needed, and printed and uploaded results. See Timing & pricing for the full scope.
How much does timing cost?
2026 base prices are $1,500 for 5K and under, $1,700 for 10K, $1,800 for a half marathon, and $2,000 for a marathon. Registrants above 300 cost $2.50 each, and extra timing points cost $250 each. Travel and optional services are additional.
How far do you travel?
We are based in Lexington and serve Kentucky and surrounding areas. Travel outside Fayette County is billed at $1 per mile traveled. Confirm your venue and travel cost with your quote.
Do you provide packet pickup?
Pre-race packet pickup is an optional $300 service for a day before race day. Arrange it separately when confirming your timing package.
Is RaceJoy participant tracking available?
Yes. RaceJoy tracking and setup is an optional $300 service. It must be selected for the event; it is not automatically available at every race.
Can we get custom bibs or an upgraded finish line?
Standard bibs and an inflatable arch are included. Custom bibs are $0.85 each; a metal finish-line truss upgrade is $300, and advanced multi-tiered trussing is $500.
How early should we book?
Contact us as early as possible, especially for spring and fall dates. Send your date, location, distances, participant estimate, and expected operating hours so we can review availability.
